Dave and Monica purchased a property overlooking wine country and the coastal mountains in the backdrop to the west. The challenge on this design project was to take advantage of the 270 deg. view that runs perpendicular to the street approach without encountering too much slope within the building footprint. We accomplished this by incorporating two 30 deg. "bends" in the building design with the central core of the building on axis with the Porte cochere off the street. We designed the main level to function as a self sufficient family floor plan with the lower level designed for entertaining and guest accommodations. We added plenty of covered outdoor space on the view side to take in the views and some fresh air even if the weather isn't cooperating.Although we made sure not to design any deck directly in front of the great room so we didn't loose any view of the valley below
