Builder: Mike Raffaell
Mike Raffaell had an old farmhouse on 10 acres that he considered renovating to fit his short term needs. After some discussion, we concluded that it was going to make more sense to start from the ground up. So we worked around the existing pool and landscape to design a house that can be converted into a pool house later when he builds a larger home towards the back of the property. The main focus of the structure was the open beam Gathering room that flows through a large 16' door to the pool. The space needed to accommodate day to day living and also serve as a spacious entertaining area. The large stone two sided fireplace is the centerpiece of the space. There is also a large bathroom /changing space that has direct access from the pool area. With the help of contractor Tom Gengler, Mike put a great amount of care into every little detail inside and out of the home and it shows.
